In order to use the Mealsafari Platform you need to have a device with an internet browser and a working internet connection. Please note that some features on the Platform require cookies and javascript to be enabled in your browser.
- Do i need to install anything?
- How do i change the language?
You have a language dropdown in the main menu which you can choose to change the current interface language.
Since all recipes and menus are created by Platform users, these recipes and menus may or may not be translated into multiple languages. In case no translation is available for your selected language, the language used when creating the recipe or menu will be displayed.
- Which languages are supported?
We currently support English, German and Swedish. Further language support may be added in the future.
- Can you translate my recipes?
We currently do not offer any translation services.
- How do i create recipes?
When you are logged in to your account you can find the "Create Recipe" link in the main menu. Depending on your account tier you may have a limit on the number of unpublished recipes that you can save in your account.
- How can i translate my recipes?
When you have created and saved your recipe you can click the "Edit" icon on the recipe page to edit it. When you are on the first page of the create recipe wizard you can change the language in the language dropdown in the main menu. Translate any free text in the recipe and save it, you now have your first translation saved.
Please note that in case you have translated a recipe and make a change in any translation of the recipe you should make the same change for all other translations before publishing the recipe.
- How do i search for recipes?
If you are visiting Mealsafari without logging in you can search for recipes by using free text in the search bar on the front page. This free text search enables you to find recipes by title, username or ingredient.
If you are logged in to a free account you have the option to filter the recipes by ingredients, ingredient groups, language and more.
If you are subscribing to a paid account tier you also have the option to exclude ingredients and ingredient groups.
- How do i delete a recipe?
If your recipe is not yet queued for publishment or published you can delete your recipe by clicking the "Trashcan" icon on the recipe page or for the corresponding recipe in your account and confirm the deletion in the popup.
Published recipes can not be deleted since they may be used by other users.
- My recipe or menu title is not valid
In order to make recipes and menus easier to find we have made the decision to require titles to be unique when they are published. Please use descriptive titles when creating recipes and menus. If you are creating a variation of a recipe and are reusing parts of the original title you should try to make the difference clear to the reader. For example: if you are remixing "Chocolate cake" and are adding crushed hazelnuts to the recipe you could set the title to "Chocolate cake with crushed hazelnuts" if it is available.
- How do i create a menu?
When you want to add a recipe to a menu you can choose to either use a previously created, unpublished menu or to create a new menu.
In order to create a new menu you flip the switch on the add to menu page.
If you are subscribing to a paid account tier you have the possibility to create week menus.
